A Mercedes Benz sports utility vehicle caught fire on Thursday afternoon in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal.
A resident contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) around 15:30 and called for help. The vehicle was in light loads when Rusa officers arrived at the scene.
“According to the owner, the vehicle had experienced mechanical problems and was parked in the yard in Pricklepear Road. Her six-year-old son was playing in the vehicle when a fire broke out. He admitted that he used matches to set the vehicle on fire.”
Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after and extinguished the fire.
