New royal website, podcasts for Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have apparently turned over a new royal leaf.

Although they presumably deliberately moved away from their official titles in 2020 after their withdrawal from royal life, the couple have now launched a new website entitled, “the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex”.

Their new website, Sussex.com, replaces the previous one, Archewell.com, and will reportedly provide more personal updates on the Duke and Duchess’ activities.

Meghan and Prince Harry each also have separate profiles on the new Sussex website detailing their achievements, but their royal family roots are not mentioned at all.

Furthermore, for the first time on one of their own platforms, their children are referred to as “Prince Archie” and “Princess Lilibet” – titles they received in 2022 with their grandfather, King Charles III’s ascension to the throne.

RNews reported earlier that Archewell is a pun on Prince Archie’s name and was also the brand under which they signed several profitable agreements with media institutions in the past three years.

One such deal was the Duchess’ sensational Spotify podcast series, Archetypes – which only consisted of one season of eight episodes.

It was claimed at the time that the streaming giant paid the former royals $20 million (about R340 million) for this content, which took two years to see the light of day.

In this series, Meghan talked to celebrities such as Serena Williams and Mariah Carey about various topics regarding womanhood.

The hashtag #VoetsekMeghan even led locally shortly after the premiere episode after the duchess left South Africans furious about comments she made about South Africa in this episode.

Archetypes however, has now found a new home at the podcast platform Lemonada after Spotify decided in 2023 not to renew the duchess’ series for a second season.

Celebrities like Julia Dreyfus of Seinfeld-fame and comedian Sarah Silverman are some of the famous names that can already be heard on the Lemonada platform.

“Lemonada Media today announced a new creative partnership with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. As part of our agreement, Lemonada will air the first season of the award-winning series Archetypes distributed for all audio platforms and also developing a new original series which will be presented by the Duchess of Sussex,” the platform said in a statement on their social media.

“I am proud to share that I am now joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” Meghan said in a statement to CNN News said.

“Being able to support a women’s company with a series of thought-provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a fantastic way to kick off 2024.”
