Colin Burgess, founding member and original drummer of Australian rock group AC/DC, has died. He was 77 years old.

“We are saddened to hear of Colin Burgess’ death. He was our first drummer and a respected musician. Happy memories, rock in peace,” the members who are currently part of the group wrote on social media.

Burgess founded this famous rock group in 1973 with Malcolm Young, Angus Young, Dave Evans and Larry van Kriedt. However, a year later he was asked to leave the group after he was allegedly drunk on stage. He later said that his drink was doctored. He was replaced with the band’s current drummer, Phil Rudd.

He played from 1968 to 1972 for another Australian rock group, Master’s Apprentices. This group was inducted into the Australian Music Industry Association’s Hall of Fame in 1998.
